2nd Quarter 2011 Home Prices
A total of 2583 homes were sold in the second quarter 2011, up from 1783 in the first quarter. The median home price was $201,250, down from $220,000 from the second quarter 2010, but up slightly from the $200,000 seen in the first quarter. The average time taken to sell a home was 81 days.
Looking at a zip code level we can see that just 5 areas experienced median sales price increases, with Draper coming out on top with a 3.24% increase. There were 17 zip codes that experienced decreases, with the Salt Lake City zip code 84104 seeing the biggest drop of over 32%.
To sum up while the year on year figures were less than impressive, the quarter on quarter figures showed at least a temporary stabilization in home prices. Only time will tell if this is the bottoming of the market that we have been waiting for, or just a pause.
