3rd Quarter 2016 Home Prices
The median sales price for a single family home surpassed the $300,000 for the first time in the 3rd quarter 2016. The median sales price was $301,000, well above the 2007 high of $256,000. Sales were down in the quarter, with high home prices and a shrinking inventory level putting the squeeze on home buyers. There were 3,759 homes sold in the quarter, a decline of 2.11%. Homes also sold fast, taking just 12 days to go under contract, a sure sign of a very strong sellers market.
The best performing area in Salt Lake County was Riverton with an 18% increase to $385,000. Only 2 zip codes saw their median sales prices decline, with Sandy 84094 performing the worst, dropping 14% to to stand at $325,900.
